Mochi
Mochi

Mochi is a Japanese dessert made from glutinous mochigome rice, which is steamed and then kneaded until it has an elastic consistency. Mochi can be formed into small round cakes and filled with a variety of fillings such as red bean paste, sweet creams or pieces of fruit. They can also be sprinkled or coated with powders such as soy kinako, matcha green powder or cornstarch to prevent them from sticking too much. Mochi has gained popularity as a dessert and snack in many parts of the world. In Japan, it is traditionally regarded as a symbol of happiness and longevity, and its elastic sticky texture reflects family unity and cohesion.
